    Fuck cancer. Stephen David Johnson lost his battle with cancer on October 19th, 2019, after putting up a damn tough fight.
    I leave this song up as a tribute to a great friend, an awesome singer, and a true brother. You will be missed, Steve.
    I really loved being your friend, dude.
    Steve asked me to keep this song going. He called up one day and said: "Hey man, after I'm gone, will you still try to get that song out there, and have people hear it? Try to make something from it, at least. Try to do something with it.. anything..."
    I reluctantly agreed, not wanting my friend to go.

Many years ago, maybe 1998, Stevie J and I wrote this tune. He had some lyrics, and I had some instruments. We jammed, recorded and played this song every chance we could get. I'm uploading this here for all to listen to and love. Stephen David Johnson is one of the best singers I have ever known, and a man with a heart bigger than his super tall body. And he's also one my best friends, and truest brothers I've known. He always wanted to get into a band. I mean, music is the driving force of Stevie J. I met this guy singing karaoke in a dive bar in Dubuque, Iowa. We both totally sang our asses off every chance we could get. We instantly connected, and stayed buds for all these years. We practically ran the Karaoke circuit, and there was no contest that him and I weren't going to dominate. Steve moved to Nashville, got himself a music gig here and there, making himself quite the local phenomenon. I gotta say, if I loved country music as much as Stevie J, we would have been in a band a long time ago. This little tune was my attempt at "trying on the cowboy hat". My rock-n-roller sense just couldn't cross over, but Steve persevered through the years. I doubt there are many people that don't know Stevie J. Stephen David Johnson, the Nashville Entertainer.
